- Magnetic Content
- A weighed portion of the composite sample (ca 25 g) was passed through the Davis Tube at a field strength of 900 Gauss with a retention time of 4 minutes. The tailing was then treated for another 2 minutes and the two concentrates were combined, dried and weighed.
- Density
- A weighed portion of the composite sample (ca 250 g) was placed in distilled water in a tared 200 mL volumetric flask. The flask contents were deaerated by boiling gently for 15 minutes, then cooled, made to volume and weighed.
- Size Analysis
- A weighed portion of demagnetized composite sample (ca 50 g) was wet screened at 400 mesh. The +400 mesh fraction was dried and then dry screened at 270, 325 and 400 mesh. The individual fractions were weighed. The percentage passing 10 microns was determined with a MicroTrac Particle Size Analyzer on a demagnetized portion of the composite sample.
