It is anticipated Craigmont will be producing hematite for sale to specialty product industries in the near future.

Products Currently Produced and Sold by Craigmont Mines:

‘80’ Grade Magnetite
The ‘80 grade magnetite’ produced by Craigmont Mines is slightly coarser in size than ‘90’ grade magnetite. This product has approximately 80% (plus or minus 3%) of the size fraction passing through 325-mesh screen. It is commonly used by the coal industry as a recoverable heavy media material in the separation process employed to clean coal.

‘90’ Grade Magnetite
This product is the most common magnetite product sold. It also, is primarily but not exclusively produced for heavy media separation (cleaning coal) in the coal industry. This product has 90% (plus or minus 3%) size faction passing 325-mesh. Magnetite utilized for cleaning coal is preferential over other types of dense media because lost magnetite it is recoverable through the use of magnetic separators. The recovered magnetite is used many times over and only minor amounts of magnetite are purchased to replace the magnetite lost in the coal cleaning process.

Products In Development:

+70 Mesh Sand Blasting Abrasive
Through a development agreement with Target Products, Craigmont Mines will be producing +70 mesh magnetite for sale to the sand blasting industry by July 2003.

Micronized Magnetite
This product, which contains 100% minus 25-micron magnetite, is currently under development for the specialty paint industry.

Hematite Production:

In-house development of a process circuit essential for the efficient recovery of Specular Hematite from tailings feed at Craigmont has been recently completed. Upon obtaining a firm contract commitment from an end-user of hematite the circuit will be installed and made operational. All other transport, drying and bagging facilities necessary to deliver hematite to a customer will be supplied by Target Products.
